Where oh where have the last few weeks vanished to? And possibly more importantly, where oh where has the last My Week in Crafts post banished to???
Over the last month I have been crazily busy with work and a million and one other things. Little Miss C has had a birthday – and I’ve had to organise a party for 31 children, which was made somewhat harder when the soft play centre hat we had booked cancelled on us due to a flood! There seem to have been loads of school meetings of one sort or another, plus a school summer fair, which as tradition dictates took place in the rain. My mum has had her hip replaced so one childfree day was spent taking the train up to Sheffield to visit her in hospital. Then there was also the small matter of a 5km race plus a fun run with Little Miss C (both within an hour of each other!)
The thing that I have totally failed to do in all this time is dedicate enough time to crafts and I’m definitely missing it. Life feels completely out of balance right now and I desperately need to rectify that.
In the small bit that I have done my Attic24 Ripple Blanket has continued to grow – albeit slowly. Hopefully I’ll soon reach the half way point though. I’m still completely in love with this particular project and it’s great to see that a couple of my knitting group have been so inspired that they’ve also bought the kit from Wool Warehouse.
I have also tried a little bit of long stitch – which I was sure I’d blogged about, but the post appears to have vanished. I treated myself to this Unicorn kit from Black Sheep Wools with the aim of making it for LMC. I’ve not really tried my hand at long stitch before, but I’ve always thought it was quite easy. The small bit I’ve tried so far has proved me wrong. I desperately need to get a frame to work it on as it just won’t work if I hold it in my hand. We’re off to visit my mum in a couple of weeks and I’m hoping she might have one in her sewing room that I can borrow for a while.
And finally is the peg bag that I finished over the weekend for the Hillarys Craft Competition. I’ve not done much machine sewing lately so I was feeling rather rusty, but I’m actually really pleased with the way it turned out. I definitely want to get my sewing machine out more often though and have a couple of magazines full of projects that I want to try. Now I just need to find time to do so. No idea where I find that though!
