Regular readers will know that Master C is the biggest Bing fan out there right now. Every day he asks to watch it on the BBC iPlayer and he is completely obsessed with Bing, Sula, Pando and their friends and carers. As I mentioned when I blogged about knitting him a Flop toy there haven’t been any Bing toys available commercially, but that’s all about to change with this Bing Floor Puzzle from Ravensburger that we were sent to review.
When I unwrapped the puzzle from the packaging in which it had been sent I think I instantly qualified for Mum of the Year, and that was while Master C just thought he’d got “Bing on a box”. When he realised that there was a puzzle inside he just started jumping around the room shouting “Bing! Bing! Bing!” such is the power that this bunny has over small children.
The floor puzzle itself consists of 16 large thick pieces and it makes up a picture of the 8 main characters in the programme: Bing, Flop, Pando, Sula, Padget, Charlie, Coco and Amma. Each character has a different coloured background behind them to help children match the pieces together. What I really loved about this puzzle was the picture and the fact that it was arranged so that by just fining two jigsaw pieces and putting them together children are able to form one of the characters and get some satisfaction in doing so. Master C loves and recognises all the characters and so it was really easy for him at two and a half to start to see which pieces he needed to put together with just a bit of prompting from me.
The pieces physically are also a great size for little hands. The thickness of them means that they’re easy for children to pick up and manipulate, and they are also large enough that they have a big picture on each to help them see how they go together.
Jigsaws like this are a brilliant learning toy for children as it helps them develop their mental problem solving skills alongside manual dexterity. Combine that with some well loved characters like Bing and you’ve got a recipe for success.
If there’s a Bing fan in your house then this is quite simple a must have puzzle. It’s available online here and should also be in all good toy shops.
Doing Bing Puzzles? It’s a Master C thing!

When my boy was little he adored jigsaws. He is obviously a lot older now as I’ve never heard of Bing. What happened to Telly Tubbies? :-)))

Ah They’re about to make a comeback I believe!

Ps – I also meant to say, Ravensburger puzzles were always really good – always well made so they fitted together properly.

Have to admit that I alway keep a look out for Ravensburger ones in charity shops as they last so well. Both adult and child puzzles.

Ooh I love Ravensburger puzzles, they are our faves. T is a bit old for one like this now, but I’m always looking out for good jigsaws to give to friends with littler people, and this sounds perfect – I like how sturdy it sounds. I think Bing has even made it across here and is shown on ABC4Kids so I hope I can track one down.
Penny Carr says
Ah yes – I do remember them posting on their Facebook page about Bing making it down under!

Our house was full of floor puzzles when mine were little, fantastic learning toys for kids! Not really seen much of Bing – other than to admire the voice of Flop of course!
Penny Carr says
I’m pretty sure there should be a self help group for mums that have fallen in love with Flop’s voice!

My girls love puzzles too! They will do them over and over again. I think its was up to them we would spend all day on the floor. This looks like one that my youngest would love.
