My Week in Crafts

25/04/2015

Craft Crochet Ripple Blanket

It’s been all about crochet here this week. Well crochet and a spot of name tape sewing seeing as Little Miss C went back to school on Monday. In my usual disorganised fashion I suddenly realised at 8.30am on Monday morning that a ski coat probably was no longer appropriate for school seeing as the forecast was for 20 degrees. Luckily I’d picked up several coats from a half price sale in Millets so the kids should be correctly attired for the next couple of years between them, but of course the new coat was un-named and anyone who has had to spend an hour searching through a smelly pile of school lost property will know that it’s just not worth the pain. So there I was trying to supervise teeth brushing whilst stitching a name tape into place. I know I could probably have just used a biro on the label, but I’m a bit old fashioned and fussy when it comes to naming things and much prefer name tapes over anything else.

But on to nicer things than name tapes…

Craft Crochet Ripple Blanket

The ripple blanket is taking shape nicely now. With LMC back at school and not doing daily swimming lessons any more I’ve not had quite so much time to pick up my hook this week, especially since I seem to have been out four evenings in the last five!

In my mission to always make time to craft though I’ve been taking my crochet all over the place with me this week and ripples have been made sat in the garden, on the edge of the swimming pool (LMC moved up a class and was a tad nervous about being in the BIG pool, so mummy had to stay close that first lesson), in the car, at the local soft play centre, and even whilst doing Friday’s Friday at 11 Google Hangout!

I’m not sure how much longer I can keep carrying the blanket around with me as it’s growing quite fast now, but I am loving having something that I can pick up and put down so easily (makes me realise the big advantage crochet has over knitting) and where I’m now so familiar with the pattern that I no longer need the instructions other than to check the colour sequence.

I’m also not sure I’ve convinced Mr C to let me have this on our bed when I’ve finished, but I’ll keep working on that…

So what have you been crafting in the last seven days?
