There’s one particular charity shop that I like that always used to have loads and I got them at 3 for 99p! Complete bargain. Sadly they’ve not had many for ages though. I generally have a rule not to pay more than £2 for a single book unless it’s one I really really want to finish a collection. Our local Oxfam bookshop is bonkers though – one in there the other day for £12.99 even though an equivalent one on eBay was “just” £6. Average price in vintage shops is normally £3-£4 for common ones.
Just love those illustrations! I am a child of the 70s so remember these so clearly from my childhood- not sure we had this one though! I often find that when I in desperation bring out activities or games we played when I was a kid, my kids love them!!
oh you should definitely share the games you have with yours. Love the images in the book and i agree. It is so much easier to put an iPad in your childs arms but what matters most is the time you spend with him and the things you give him.
You are so right about this. I dislike technology for children with a passion for the reasons you stated. My girls are wonderfully creative and so good at entertaining themselves, which is mostly down to their creativity, but I really think also down to the fact that I’m a big meanie who doesn’t them use a tablet or watch much TV!!

Thanks Helen.

I’m curious to know what you pay for your Ladybirds? I saw loads in a charity shop at the weekend and they were priced at £4 each.
I wish I knew what happened to my childhood collection – I could be rich!

It’s true Sonya – somehow those old fashioned toys and games work really well when kids are tired too.

I fear I have slipped down the slippery slope into letting my children have tablet and TV time and now I somehow need to claw it back again.

I can vaguely remember this book from my childhood, it was a book that we had a school.
