Bigjigs Wooden Safari Animal Building Blocks

09/02/2014

Little Miss C has already learnt to recognise Play Patrol parcels from Bigjigs and this latest one was no exception. As well as some wonderful things for LMC herself (which will be included in a video review, just as soon as I shift this cold and can talk properly again!) there was also a package in there for Master C which he was very keen to get to grips with.

SafariBuildingBlocks

The Safari Building Blocks are aimed at children aged one plus and they seem to be the perfect to move on to after the standard cube building blocks (you know the ones that you get either in the push along trolly, or that have letters on them).

These blocks are physically smaller and lighter, meaning that children need a slightly higher dexterity level to stack them into a tower. The designs on the blocks themselves mean that they can also be arranged to form animals like a panda, giraffe and a lion to name but a few.

The addition of trees and bushes on some of the blocks also makes the set perfect to use as scenery for our Bigjigs train set.  LMC has been helping Master C set them up so that his train can now drive through a zoo, although with his current obsession with just pushing trains around he has rather trampled the animals on a few occasions.

As is often the case with toys, the thing which entertained Master C the most was what I least expected. The blocks come with a simple drawstring fabric bag to keep them in (very handy as I've had to make similar for our big building blocks) and Master C has absolutely loved this little bag. He's spent ages putting all the blocks back in the bag, clapping proudly as each one goes in, and then when he's finished he just empties them all out on the floor and starts again!

Disclaimer: We were sent the Safari Building Blocks to review as part of our role as Bigjigs Play Patrol Agents.
