Part of my “day job” at the moment involves working with the lovely people at my gorgeous local independent toy shop Cuthberts Toys and writing their blog for them.

To tie in with my latest review for them I’m delighted to say that they have provided me with a Kidkraft Pirate Play Set to give away in time for Christmas*.

We were fortunate enough to review this pirate play set and Little Miss C fell in love with it as soon as she saw it. A full review can be found over on the Cuthberts Blog, but here are some highlights.

Firstly, the sheer scale of the Pirate Ship is impressive. The small box can be quite an illusion as you need to put it together in a similar way to a bit of Ikea flat-pack furniture and the finished object measures over 60 cm long and a similar size in height. The hinge at the middle means that the pirate ship opens up fully to allow little hands to play inside it too.

The ship also comes with two billowing sails, a rope ladder and a crow’s nest at the top of the mast. This provides children with an excellent spot for their pirates to have fights at height with the added danger of being forced off the rigging by their opposition.

The play set contains the ship itself, two pirate character figures, a treasure chest filled with gold and a cannon. Together they provide young pirate lovers with all they need for hours of imaginative play.
