Making Red Ted Art’s Halloween Jam Jar Lanterns

22/10/2013

It may not happen as often as I'd like it to, but the days on which I'm organised enough to do some proper crafting with Little Miss C are days that I do just love. Nothing beats her excitement in seeing something being created in front of her eyes, and when it actually looks like the picture in the book or on my laptop then she's jumping up and down fit to burst.

There are so many great blogs featuring kids' craft projects, but the one I go back to time and time again is Red Ted Art. I've blogged before about the book version of Red Ted Art and this is what I turned to recently when I wanted to do some Halloween crafting with LMC.

We chose to make the jam jar lanterns, mainly because I seem to be collecting old jam jars and never actually get round to using them so we actually had everything we needed in the crafting cupboard already. They are incredibly simple to make and also easy for someone as small as Little Miss C to get stuck into (excuse the pun). They also didn't take too long which made it a perfect activity for whilst Master C was having his afternoon nap.

The best part of it in LMC's eyes though was the fact that our finished lanterns looks exactly like the ones in the book! She's now looking forward to Halloween next week when we'll put candles inside them.

I made these with the boy last year and they are so cute, though yours are much neater than our attempt! That Maggy Woodley is one clever crafter 😉
