Did you know that Post-it notes were pretty much invented by accident? Someone working at 3M was trying to come up with a super-strong adhesive and instead invented a reusable, pressure -sensitive one instead. Not knowing what to do with his new invention, but sure that it did have a purpose, he just made sure he told lots of people in the company about it until one of them came up with the idea of using it to hold a piece of paper inside his book to mark the page, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Nowadays Post-it notes are everywhere. I always have a stack on the kitchen counter next to a pot of pens and they're perfect for writing notes on. Everything from that day's to do list, through to reminders that need to be positioned in strategic places around the house. When I was a student I even used them to decorate my room with useful facts and equations that I needed to learn for my exams. They get used as notes in eBay parcels and also to mark pages in books for activities that I want to do with the kids. I honestly think that not a day goes by where I don't use one for something.
When I was working as a project manager I always too a pack along to meetings with me as they were perfect for jotting down actions on – a note per person – and then team members could simply be handed their actions as they walked out of the door at the end. They were also perfect for mocking up project plans on large white boards as you could use them to move around tasks to see what worked best – and it gave a great visual representation to the team at the same time.
Now there are also Post-it Super Sticky Notes with an even stronger longer lasting adhesive, making them perfect for putting reminders wherever you need them.
Their ability to work better on vertical services meant we had to try them out as we created a bit of post-it note window art. Little Miss C loved sticking them all over our big patio window and Master C also loved trying to pull as many off as he could.
The art work may not have been as magnificent as some I've seen, but we did use them successfully to reinforce some letters that we've been learning recently.
The only thing I need to do now is make sure that LMC doesn't find where I keep my supplies, as I'm pretty sure that if she did they wouldn't last for long!
Disclaimer: I was sent a couple of packs of Post-it Super Sticky Notes for the purposes of this review.
