When it comes to children's craft activities it's easy to get stuck in a bit of a rut and find yourself really lacking inspiration. When that happens I have to admit that my favourite place to go and rejuvinate my crafting mojo has to be Red Ted Art as the site is just packed with wonderful things to try at home.
When I came across their AMAZING Egg Carton Crafts a few weeks ago I just knew that we'd be trying similar soon. Please do go and have a look at the fantastic treasure chests that they've created from egg boxes as they are brilliant.
Little Miss C's crafting skills aren't yet at Red Ted Art's level, but she was thrilled all the same when I presented her with an empty egg box and some paint. I also showed her the pictures on Red Ted Art of using an old egg carton to store hair bobbles and clips in and she instantly loved the idea and was full of enthusiasm to make one herself. Somehow we've not actually done anything crafty with old egg boxes before. No idea why not, but we soon rectified the situation.
LMC decided to keep the art work simple. Very simple. Green paint on the outside, pink paint inside. Then again some of the best design statements are just as simple.
Once all the paint was dry it seems that the most exciting bit for her was placing all her hair bobbles and clips in their new home.
I have no idea how I haven't noticed before, but an egg box really is perfect for storing this kind of thing in. The clips fit neatly in the egg holes, and the pointy divider bits between the eggs (do they have an official name?) are ideal for putting bobbles over. All LMC's hair accessories stored neatly and as she made the storage she's keen to keep them neat and tidy over two weeks later. Result!
Thanks Red Ted Art!
Genius! Especially the divider thingy jig for storing bobbles – I must go and investigate the contents of the fridge
I know – so obvious when you see it, but not until someone else points it out to you!
