Review: Hotel Chocolat Milk Chocolate Advent Calendar

29/11/2012

HotelChocolatAdventCalendar

When I was asked if I wanted to review some chocolate from Hotel Chocolate it was a bit of a no-brainer. In fact I think my email response was typed out without me even having to think about what I was writing!

They sent me their 2012 Milk Chocolate Advent Calendar which is a lovely treat. An advent calendar is one of those things that you have as a child, but then forget about somewhat as an adult, until you have children yourself. The last couple of years Little Miss C has had one and I’ve bought them for Mr C, but not had one myself. I was delighted to have my own this year – but it has meant that I’ve had to make sure that both of them have chocolate ones too this year.

This calendar is a “book format” meaning that it is self standing. The design is a simple winter scene, but then again the main event is the chocolate itself and to be honest that could be wrapped in brown paper and most chocoholics like myself would still be happy! Behind each of the 24 windows there is a 40% milk chocolate sculpture and in order to review this properly I’ve opened a couple of windows early to test them. The chocolate is delicious – creamy, but with a good strong edge of cocoa too. I guess my only complaint is that you only get one chocolate a day…

There may not be long left to get an advent calendar but do check out the rest of their Christmas Gift range – and if anyone from my family is reading I quite fancy the Ultimate Christmas Hamper please!

Disclaimer: I was sent a milk chocolate advent calendar from Hotel Chocolat to review.
