There are far, far too many unfinished projects in this house, so yesterday's nap-time was an opportunity to actually move some of them over to the finished pile.
It's several months since I went up to the Harrogate Knitting and Stitching show with my mum, but whilst there I had a lovely time on the Clothkits stand. I remember so many of their things from my own childhood and all of their projects have a lovely air of nostalgia about them.
I've blogged before about the "Jemima" doll that I made for LMC and it's lovely that this is now one of her favourite things that she insists on going to bed with every night. I still haven't finished making all her clothes for her (I know, I know!) but they too are on the to be finished pile.
What I did manage to complete yesteday though was something that I bought when I was in Harrogate in November, another dress kit.
This lovely little dress was incredibly easy to make. The pattern was simple to follow and with all the material already marked for cutting lines it makes it so simple to follow – even when a sleep deprived parent! I opted to make the age 2 size, but chose not to include the extra button and button holes on the back as I didn't think them necessary for LMC. I also only did the smallest hem possible along the bottom, but it is a tad short on her. It would have been difficult to make it any longer due to the cutting lines, but maybe I should have just opted for the larger size? LMC's not two until June though, so I am a bit surprised just how short it is.

The only flaw in the whole project is that there appear to be a small snag in the material on the front of the dress. An imprefection in the cord that seems to be causing the start of a small hole. Now I just need to work out what I can do to cover it up…

What about a butterfly or a bee motiff?

Oooh – like that idea Hazel – Had been thinking of a flower, but that would have made it unbalanced. Thank you! x

Lovely – I got the adult skirt version of this at the Harrogate show and I loved making it, but I’ve made it slightly big – better than too small I guess. Was down in Chichester a few weeks ago and bought a summery skirt to make too. I hope LMC enjoys wearing it :-).

I keep saying Ill buy myself a skirt to make for me, but need to wait until Im not pregnant and get back down to a reasonable size – unless Clothkits fancy starting a maternity range?
