I'm not sure what started it, but I've been indulging myself in a few magazines lately. Both old favourites and some new ones. Mollie Makes falls into that latter category and having seen a buzz about this on Twitter I knew that I just had to get my hands on a copy. It involved a 120 mile trip (don't worry I was going there anyway!) but I was lucky to only have to pay the cover price. There's a copy of issue one on eBay at the moment going for over £22!
If you like handmade and vintage then Mollie Makes is for you. It quite simply contains beautiful inspiring things and its ages left me itching to get on and make something right away. The other lovely thing about it is the cover mounted gift that came with the first issue – a phone case to make.
I made a couple of modifications to their design, mainly because I didn't have enough white felt in the kit to make the top coloured flap so had to go into my fabric stash instead. I also moved the petals onto the back of the case to give the reverse a bit of interest too. I also chose not to add the button to the front.
After a fantastically busy few days celebrating Little Miss C's birthday this was an ideal little project to enjoy on a wet Sunday afternoon as I made the most of the peace and quiet of an empty house whilst LMC napped. And it means I can start the week with a lovely new handmade item in my handbag – just what Mollie Makes is all about!

Awesome phone cases. Mollie Makes is my new craft and interiors mag! It can serve as a nice present to my younger sister. Thank you!
