Winter pansies

27/10/2010

With all the wet weather of the last 24 hours it seems hard to imagine that just a week ago I managed an afternoon gardening. Most of the time that we've lived in this house (over a year now!) I've been either pregnant or juggling a small baby. Neither completely prevented gardening, but when the garden was such a blank canvas that most of the work was heavy stuff it did mean that I didn't get to do much.

Mr C has done a fantastic amount of work out there to turn it into (half) a proper garden with borders (have I told you all about that yet? Possibly not!) so I can actually do some of the smaller gardening tasks like planting flowers etc whilst LMC watches from her buggy or bouncy chair. This latest job was to plant out some winter pansies to fill some gaps that had emerged.

I chose some lovely rich purple colours which I just love and since planting quite a few of them are out in flower, but the weather's been too horrible for me to venture outside with a camera.

How is that that we're talking about winter pansies already though. Where is this year disappearing to? Only two minutes ago it was the end of summer, yet now the cold seems to have set in much more and the heating is sadly on a lot more as a result. Which is in itself a reminder that I really need to finish Little Miss C's Baby Blanket. My self-imposed target was the end of the holiday that we're about to have. I've been a bit distracted by other events since then, but I figure that I only have one and a half more repeats of the main pattern and the edges to do. When I say it like that it doesn't seem like much, but trust me it is!
