Veg production seems to be starting off rather well here. Above are the courgettes happily growing from the free seeds I got from this year's BBC Dig In campaign. They're starting to take over this part of my kitchen, but I'm just waiting for the last frost to be over before planting them out.
The rest of the veg plot is looking pretty good too. From the left there are potatoes hopefully starting to grown from seed potatoes in the bag on the paving. The random assortment in the back left hand corner of the raised bed is the contents of the magic grow your own box that I planted a few months back. Also on the left are shallots and rocket. A row of red onions that were started off indoors from sets are next to a row of beetroot seeds that are just starting to come up (from last year's Dig In Campaign). The mixed salad was bought from a local nursery, but then come a row of carrots, again seeds from this year's Dig In Campaign. Far right of the bed are brown onions, that also started off inside the kitchen from set. On the far right on the main bed are the sugar snap peas that seem to have doubled in size since we put them in.
We're hoping that the net over the whole bed will keep next door's cat's off as they have a nasty habit of using some of our garden as their toilet, and for obvious reasons we don't want them to do that here.
Fingers crossed that there should be a good crop later in the year.
