The good news is that Mr C managed to find the time to make a great start on my vegetable plot for me before this week's good weather. This photo was taken less than a week ago and yet things have already grown noticeably. In the raised bed are onions, mixed lettuce, rocket (a gift from the neighbours), carrot seeds, beetroot seeds and my mystery box, which is now starting to sprout. Next to the bed are some sugar snap peas which I have to admit to buying as seedlings from the local nursery.
Some shallots have also been added in the last week and the kitchen window sill also has some small courgette plants that are just waiting for the overnight frosts to cease before they go out. I have a further tray of both brown and red onions that I have been growing from sets waiting on the deck to go in too.
Progress is certainly being made and it gives me a small sense of satisfaction to see how much things are growing already. The garden is really springing to life in the last week or so. Various bulbs have popped up; some that we planted, some that were there already. A second set of tulips are just coming into flower, the primroses are looking lovely and half of the snake's head fritillaries that I planted are also in flower. There also seem to be bluebells all over the garden – a very pleasant surprise as we had no idea that all the bulbs were there.
What I really ought to do though is get out there with a camera and record it all – I will try, honestly!
