On Saturday night Mr C and I opened the bubbles to celebrate: on Friday we finally sold our flat! We are now officially out of the housing market and watching the daily economic turmoil around us we couldn't be happier.
We had big plans whilst we were on honeymoon earlier this year that we'd come home, sell our flat and buy somewhere bigger so that could think about the next step of being able to start a family. Unfortunately reading newspapers on the plane back made us realise that the economic situation had changed somewhat in the month we'd been away and things weren't going to be as easy as we thought.
We did put our flat on the market, and even found the house we wanted, but then the people selling it decided to sell it to someone else instead. We had a potential buyer for our flat and decided to push ahead, knowing that we might not find another buyer further down the line. Luckily for us the people buying it were planning to rent it out for a few years, hence we're staying put for a while, only as tenants instead of owners. Now we just have to sit back, save and hope that prices fall enough that we can afford something bigger (taking into account the lack of mortgages for people wanting more than 85% LTV).
At least we're half way there with our plan – and that has to be worth celebrating!

Great news! Great to be able to slowly wait for prices to fall and jump in to a new place a a great price.
