Sewing secrets

18/11/2008

I had such a fun evening on Monday, but I'm afraid I can't tell you about it!

Holiday Traditions Exchange 2008

I'm currently taking place in Sew Liberated's holiday tradition exchange and I sent Monday evening starting to create a Christmas decoration for my exchange partner.

I have to admit that this was the first time that I've designed something from scratch and I had so much fun trying out materials, colours and stitches. I even found myself sketching things out and making notes about what worked, what didn't, what I liked and what I didn't. I went exploring in my craft box and came out with materials that I'd forgotten I had. My coloured pencils even came out and were sharpened so that I could try to capture on paper the ideas that were in my head.

I've made some progress this evening, but more than anything else I have a feeling of confidence that I can do this and create something that will turn out how I've been imagining it as I've been going to and from work on the train.

The evening's activities have been such fun and I've felt more creative that I have done in years. So much so that I even mentioned to Mr C that if he was looking for Christmas ideas then a notebook that I can keep all my ideas in might be a good idea!
