Rowan Denim Bag

06/08/2008

Just in case you haven’t picked it up from some of my previous posts I’m a big fan of Rowan yarns and get so excited when I get my hands on their latest magazine.

Last month my subscription to Rowan International was up for renewal and I didn’t hesitate at all before putting my credit card details into their website. The free gift this year didn’t initially excite me as much as the last one, but that all changed over the weekend. I’ve written before on this blog about how I missed the regularity of knitting in some projects I’ve started recently yet this back is the complete opposite and gave me back the regularity that I find so relaxing when knitting.

The bag’s constructed using Rowan’s denim yarn in the memphis shade. I’m currently working the pattern on 4mm needles. These were the first pair of needles I bought when I started to knit and not knowing any better I bought metal needles as that was what I was used to my Mum and Nan using when they knitted. Nowadays I much prefer bamboo needles as I find them so much easier on the hands, so I was a tad sceptical about going back and using metal needles again after so long. If anything though the gentle noise of them coming together with each stitch just adds to the perfect rhythm when I’m knitting that allows me to escape from the real world for a little while.
