Mr C and I are rather caught up at the moment in trying to buy a house. With the current "credit crunch" situation here in the UK, it is far from the best time to be trying to do this. We've been wanting to take the next step in the housing ladder for a while now to allow us to start thinking about a family a bit further down the line. It's not easy though and the last week in particular has been quite stressful.
We finally got to put an offer in on a place today though. The first offer was rejected (not unexpectedly) and we're currently waiting to hear back on our revised offer. To try to take our minds off things we decided to pop out for pizza in St Albans after work tonight.
Through a work colleague I'd been given a 2 for 1 voucher for the Zizzi chain of restaurants so we decided to go to the St Albans branch which is supposedly one of their main ones, being underneath their registered office. When we arrived we joined the throng of people waiting just inside the door for tables. The restaurant did appear to be quite busy, but we still saw a few spare tables, especially for couples like us. Unfortunately, after 10 minutes of just standing there we still hadn't even been acknowledged by the staff and decided to cut our losses and leave. A shame seeing as we had a discount voucher, but I'd still rather not give our money to people that care so little about their customers.
Instead we headed to the local branch of Pizza Express. We at least were seated here quite quickly, even if we did have to ask them to reposition their lights so that we could actually see at our table! The food was very good. The service was fast – actually too fast as they tried to give us our mains before we'd finished the starters. Luckily the manager sorted that out and we got fresh pizza when we were ready for it. A very loud woman at a nearby table made hearing each other a tad difficult, but generally a nice evening out. Good to have an opportunity to clear our heads and not just talk about house buying when seems to have been keeping us occupied for the last month or so!
