I love shopping for books and have been quite lucky recently in finding loads of good ones in charity shops. It was only when I came to choose what to read next through that I realised just how many I had stacked up.
Above is my "to-read" pile. All bar one are either charity shop purchases or borrowed from friends and family. The weather here has been so awful recently that the idea of curling up with a book in an evening is really quite attractive!
As for the books I've got – they're quite a mix really. I'm in the middle of an Anita Shreve marathon at the moment having picked up quite a few of her books in one go. I'm finding them all nice easy-going reads, but with some very strong emotional messages. Some others, like Brick Lane, are things that were in the press quite a lot when they were published and I've always meant to read.
Now I just need to keep away from the charity shops until I've read some of those on my pile – otherwise I'm going to run out of bookcase space!

I’m in the same position as you with a stack of unread bargains. I desperately needed some extra bookshelf space so culled some of my books and returned them to the charity shop.
I particularly enjoyed Anita Shreve’s ‘Sea Glass’. It’s not a very happy story but I still really enjoyed it. I’m also a big fan of Jodie Picoult and have a stack of her’s waiting to be read.

I think a cull for the charity shop may well be in order. A few friends and family to pass some of the books around first – just to make sure I get my money’s worth from them first.
Sea Glass is one Shreve book that I’ve not found in a charity shop yet, I’ll keep an eye out for it though. I do find it strange how there seem to be periods at charity shops where you see the same author lots. Shreve seems to be like that at the moment in St Albans’ charity shops, so fingers crossed I’ll be able to pick up some more or her books.
