How To Decorate A Room On A Budget

09/10/2019

Decorating your home is a fun task and something that whether you own it or not, you can transform a space into your own. Here are some tips on how to decorate a room on a budget.

Have A Statement Piece

A room like an outfit needs a statement piece. It’s the one thing that you may have splurged out on, but it is something that really helps transform your look. Your space should be treated the same way so that this statement piece really helps set the tone of the room. So you could go for something like this vintage-style drinks trolley. It’s unique because it’s retro and vintage. If you’ve got brass or gold colours on cushions or on other items of furniture, then this will compliment it all very well. It also helps tie it all in together.

Go Charity Shopping

Charity shops are a great way to recycle old furniture or home decor that has been booted out by their last home and in need of a new home. It can help with saving the planet by buying things that already have been made and are still in excellent condition. When it comes to these charity shops, try to find ones that are in more stylish and possibly financially affluent areas. This is because, much of the home decor will, therefore, come from great companies and brands, therefore you know it’ll be good quality. As much as charity shops can be great, there can be some cheap quality decor that might appear to be good but aren’t.

Add Colour To Walls (If Allowed)

Colour is great for injecting some life into a space but to save money, why not invest in a tin of paint. Get creative with some stencil art using masking tape and go to work on your walls. Create a feature wall or paint the whole room one colour, it’s completely up to you. Be careful, though, when it comes to a property you’re renting, as the landlord might not allow you to do anything with the home. If the paint isn’t your thing, then you can always try wallpaper instead. This is a little bit fussier, but you’ll have more patterns and designs to choose from.

Rearrange What You Have

In terms of a budget, you might have very little to work with, and so that’s where you turn to with what you’ve already got. You may have everything you need in your home, but then maybe, it’s worth considering a rearranging of said furniture. A few swaps and changes to the positioning and location of an item of furniture can make a huge difference to the space. In some cases, it can transform the room completely to something that perhaps looks unrecognisable. It can be done with any room, so give it a go and see what happens.

Decorating a room on a budget is certainly possible. Try these tips in your own home and see what transformations you can do.
