If you’ve been Christened, chances are that you’ll have been gifted items from your Godparents and those who attended your ceremony. But, do you still have them? Do you know where they are? Did you ever receive them from your parents when you were old enough to appreciate them? Christening/Naming gifts are tricky to get right; if you’re attending a ceremony the last thing you want is to spend money on a gift that’s going to end up in a box in the family’s loft!
To give you a little inspiration, here are 5 Christening/Naming Ceremony gifts that are sure to be a hit.
The gift of silver
Silver is a very traditional gift at Christenings: silver trinkets, silver jewellery, even silver spoons. However, some consider this type of gift quite old fashioned and not overly practical either. After all, what good is a silver baby bracelet if they can’t even remember wearing it and it no longer fits them when they’re older?
But there are still silver options to consider. If you’re looking for a bit of an investment, silver bullion bars from Golden Eagle Coin are a good choice. As are silver photo frames (these can be used when they’re all grown up) even silver plated money boxes to teach them the importance of saving!
Books, books & more books
What could be better than the gift of reading? Gifting books is a wonderful idea, as it’s something the can treasure and really enjoy either when they’re old enough to be read to, or old enough to be reading independently. The complete work of Roald Dahl, C.S Lewis, the Harry Potter books or something for them to enjoy when they’re a baby. Who knows, they might even pass them down to their own children one day. You could even go a step further and gift them a couple of bookends too! They’ll always come in handy.
Traditional wooden toys
Traditional wooden toys are a lovely gift for any child, but for a Christening you can make them extra special with personalisation. Wooden toys are popular because not only are they timeless but they’re hardwearing and can last a lifetime! A train set, wooden cars, even a wooden toy kitchen, the choice available means you’re sure to find something that the little one will love!
Something different
We live in an age where you really can gift just about anything! How about having a star named after them and having the certificate for them to display. It’s an interesting conversation piece for when they’re older too. You could have a tree planted for them and they could watch it grow as they do!
Make and do
If you’re feeling creative, then why not try your hand at sewing something special for them? Creating a blanket from scratch, a cute cardigan with matching booties or even a doll or teddy bear for them to cherish and cuddle up to at night!
