I thought I knew what to expect from pregnancy. I'd heard about morning sickness and feeling tired all the time. I knew that by this last month I'd feel rather fat and be looking forward to the prospect of one day regaining a waist and wearing "normal" clothes again.
What I wasn't expecting was the physical pain involved in putting my own socks on or the continuous discomfort of pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. For the last couple of weeks I've struggled to do so many things which should be so simple. Typing is painful and my laptop has therefore been sat for days without me even opening it. Even sewing and knitting has brought tears to my eyes when I've tried to finished projects for Baby C's arrival. A paperback book can also be difficult to hold and feel so much heavier than it should.
I'm told that things should improve once I give birth so fingers crossed that that is the case. Until then Baby C's nursery cross stitch and knitted blanket may have to remain unfinished. I'm hoping (s)he won't complain too much when they arrive about that. The nursery is finished though and once I've struggled to finish the handle repairs on my second moses basket the I should be completely ready. One of my NCT group has given birth already so things are starting to feel very real now.
Whilst all this has been going on the TV and newspapers have become my friends. I could probably pass as a good election expert now having watched more of the BBC News 24 channel than most people do in a year. Now that we finally have an agreed Government I'm guessing the news will dry up a little bit so it's probably time for me to try to find other things I can do instead. Quite how much blogging I will be able to include in that is questionable at the moment. I can just about manage Twitter from my phone so if I'm quiet here take a look there and you may find me still updating – just in much smaller bits!
