Just how big is a Nissan Leaf? – #nissanLEAFcar21
When I recently tried to tell you nearly everything you ever wanted to know about the Nissan Leaf I mentioned my surprise about just how roomy it was inside. It seem that my bland statement wasn't enough though and a group of local parent bloggers decided to test things a little bit further by asking the question "How many mummy bloggers can you fit into a Nissan Leaf", specifically #NissanLeafCar21? The answer it seems is an amazing eleven mummy bloggers, one daddy blogger (i.e. Alex who is taking part in the Nissan Big Turn On Challenge) and one bump! So, but ... read more
Fifty things to do before you’re 11 3/4!
After my recent post about how we should be allowing our children to explore the outdoors more to help them to connect with nature I was delighted to hear on the radio news this morning about the National Trust's new Fifty things to do before you're 11 3/4 campaign. If you're not seen this on today's news then let me tell you a little about the campaign. The idea is to encourage children to put down their computer games and step away from their TV sets and instead embrace the great outdoors. They have come up with a list of fifty activities for children to try with ... read more
Chocolate Easter nests
The long Easter weekend and we decided that it was the ideal time to introduce Little Miss C to the joys of cooking with chocolate! The three of us followed the Chocolate Easter egg nest cakes recipe from the BBC food site that seemed to be very much like the one I remember from childhood. Chocolate, melted with butter and golden syrup and then mixed in with cornflakes, before being topped with mini-eggs. It couldn't really be much more simple. With two of us at home LMC could be picked up to watch as I melted the chocolate on the hob and then she got very involved in helping ... read more
Nearly everything you ever wanted to know about the Nissan Leaf – #NissanLEAFcar21
Please don't tell daddacool this as he might get bigheaded - but he actually made one of my ambitions come true this weekend. You see I was lucky enough to be taken for a spin in the Nissan Leaf car that he currently has as part of The Big Turn On competition - #NissanLEAFcar21. It gets better though - he actually let me press buttons! Well, more accurately the touchscreen but you get my drift. So, why am I so excited? Well, this was actually my first trip in a fully electric car. I've been in a hybrid a couple of times in different foreign cities where it has been in ... read more

If you go down in the woods today…
... it'll probably be quite quiet - well it is chucking it down with rain as is typical for a Bank Holiday Monday! Luckily that wasn't the case on Saturday though when The Wick was full of children all running around as part of an Easter Hunt in aid of the Woodland Trust. Instead of having to find eggs, children instead had to collect five differently coloured tokens that were distributed across the site and then they could trade them in for a chocolate treat - all for the fantastic sum of just 50p per child. As expected Little Miss C and her trusty rabbit took the ... read more
Working with Mrs C
Mrs C is in her mid-thirties and lives in St Albans with Mr C, three year old Little Miss C and Master C who was born in September 2012. I am always more than happy to talk to companies who want to work with me here on Being Mrs C. The ethos of my blog is such that I prefer to work with either local companies, ones that have a strong green or ethical stance or companies that I would normally choose to give my custom to. If your product or service is relevant to me and my family I will happily write a full and honest review for you. I am also happy to undertake video reviews and for some ... read more
Little Lady in Red
There are far, far too many unfinished projects in this house, so yesterday's nap-time was an opportunity to actually move some of them over to the finished pile. It's several months since I went up to the Harrogate Knitting and Stitching show with my mum, but whilst there I had a lovely time on the Clothkits stand. I remember so many of their things from my own childhood and all of their projects have a lovely air of nostalgia about them. I've blogged before about the "Jemima" doll that I made for LMC and it's lovely that this is now one of her favourite things that ... read more
Damson gin – the finished product
It's nearly six months now since I started telling you about our efforts with our first batch of damson gin, but now that I'm seeing this year's blossom on the damson trees in our garden it's got me thinking about how we can use this year's harvest and I'm already hoping it's a good one. Back to the gin though... We made two batches in the end and thought that we'd bottle up the first one in time for Christmas - both for us to sample some and also to make some homemade Christmas presents. This bathc must have had about four months in the kilner jar, so not as mature as it could have ... read more
