It feels a bit weird to think that when I first discovered Sue Hendra Little Miss C was tiny and only just starting to discover picture books, yet now here I am enjoying her books with Master C as he comes to the end of his first half term at "proper school". Where has time gone? Sue Hendra still delights me as much as it does him though, and I still love sharing picture books like hers with the kids. Supertato has become a bit of a star in our household and when I opened up the package containing Evil Pea Rules! there was a shriek of delight from both kids. In this latest book Evil Pea ... read more
I Need a Wee – Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet
In my opinion Sue Hendra is quite simply one of the best picture book authors there is. So many of her books (Keith The Cat with the Magic Hat, No-Bot, Doug The Bug That Went Boing!, Supertato to name but a few) have been huge hits in this house and I know that as soon as I open I new one the kids will jump on it straight away. Dragon Jelly follows on wonderfully from Claire Freedman and Sue Hendra's last book Spider Sandwiches which Little Miss C and I reviewed last year. This time round Max is having a Monster party where he and his friends are playing all sorts of horrible games and eating some pretty hideous food. ... read more
Supertato – Sue Hendry
I'd be slightly scared to work out just how many picture books Little Miss C and I have read together now. We're definitely well in to the hundreds though and I'm now declaring ourselves experts on what works in our family book-wise and what doesn't. Rarely have I found a book though where I'm still chuckling about it a few hours later, but with Supertato that's exactly what happened. I mean, when did you last read a book about a super-hero potato protecting the other supermarket occupants against an evil frozen pea? The concept is so completely bonkers that it's brilliant! No only are ... read more
