A Wine Getaway In The USA

02/07/2019

Of all the ways that you can travel around the USA, one of the absolute best is to be driven by food and drink. It is arguably one of the greatest countries in the world for food and drink, and you could do much worse than take a whistle-stop tour while trying out as many kinds of food and drink as you can. There are certain things which you are likely to try out especially well, however, and one of them is wine. The USA has in California one of the most respected and largest producing wine regions in the world, and much of the wine happens to be absolutely delicious too. So let’s take a look at what you might want to focus on in order to experience a fantastic wine getaway in California.

Driving Around

Probably the best way to get around the wine region in California is to drive it, and that is also one of the easiest. With driving, you can of course go where you want easily, so you have that freedom to enjoy. That in itself is a great reason to drive, but you will also find that there is another huge benefit: namely, that you will be able to discover many hidden gems which you would otherwise not come across. Taking official tours is all well and good, but often you can discover more on your own than in such tours. Consider hiring a car and just driving yourself around, and you might discover sights – and vineyards – which you had not known you would come across.

Finding Accommodation

As much as you might be keen to just drive around and find great wines to drink, you are also going to have to think about the issue of accommodation, as with any kind of trip whatsoever. The good news there is that you are bound to find plenty of wonderful options in California, often with amazing views over valleys and so on, and you should not feel that there is a dearth of places to choose between. If you really want it to be a luxurious and thoroughly enjoyable stay in the sun, you might think about finding some top quality, well-known vacation rentals in California wine country. That should mean that you really do enjoy yourself as much as you would hope.

Get Walking

It’s worth saying too that you should think about walking around California if you want to really see as much of the wine country as you would like to. It is often by foot that you can really discover all of the little nooks and crannies, and you will find that it makes it more of a free exploration too, which is absolutely something you can be glad to experience. If you are thinking of a walking holiday in the vineyards, make sure to plan it out at least roughly, so you have a general idea of where to go. That should mean that you are able to make much more of it, and that you are much less likely to get lost along the way.
