How to Do Vegas Without the High Roller Price Tag

It’s super easy to enjoy all the fun of Vegas without spending a fortune

If the glittering lights and sparkling glamour of Las Vegas have your heartstrings all a-flutter, perhaps it’s time to book that flight and tick Sin City off your bucket list! After all, where else can you soak up the neon sights and party like a rock star in some of the world’s most famous locations? But as appealing as it may be, many people are put off by the idea that it costs too much to visit Vegas. These people couldn’t be more wrong. Las Vegas is filled with opportunities for everyone to experience the high life without breaking the bank. So how do you get started on your journey of a lifetime?

Research

If you want to spend as little as possible, it pays very well to put in some hours doing your research before you go on your holiday. This means spending a lot of time getting to know Vegas and planning the things you want to do before you leave. If you are desperate to see a show, find out which dates are the cheapest for tickets and pre-book to avoid incurring any fees later on. If there is a particular restaurant you want to eat in, find out if they have membership discounts and arrange to join before you leave. Planning everything out might seem like it takes away from some of the spontaneity of going away, but your hard work will pay off when you’re finally there!

Flights

Flights are always a huge expense so start looking for your flights as early as possible. Sure, you might happen to chance upon a great deal at the last minute, but often there are amazing bargains to be had when you plan a long time in advance.

Tuesdays are the best days to book flights for as they are usually the cheapest, whereas weekend flights tend to be much more expensive. Peak times for travelling to Vegas tend to be during September – January, while the cheaper seasons tend to be February – August. Virgin Atlantic and British Airways both offer good deals, so keep an eye on their flights and swoop in once you see the one you want!

Food

Finding amazing food in Vegas isn’t difficult – you just need to remember a few hacks to keep it as cheap as possible. Firstly, sign up to discount sites such as Groupon and Travelzoo to find amazing deals on meals in fancy restaurants. Next, look out for pre-show deals. A lot of hotels offer amazing discounts on pre-show dinners so you can get quality meals at affordable prices without even having to go to the show!

It goes without saying but it’s worth remembering anyway – avoid getting room service at all costs. The fees are usually astronomical and you’ll find a lot of your budget is completely blown on one meal! For amazing food at relatively inexpensive prices, check out Five50 Pizza at the Aria, Beijing Noodle No. 9 and Table 10 at the Palazzo.

Accommodation

If you’ve ever seen the large and lavish hotels that are usually advertised, it is easy to assume that everywhere is super expensive. But when it comes to finding reasonable accommodation options, there are plenty of ways that you can save money in Vegas without compromising too much on style. In fact, you can get some rooms right on the Strip for as little as $25 a night. You just need to know where to look!

One of the best ways to get a swanky room on a budget is to book during the week. Weekends are ridiculously expensive times to stay in any hotel, but this is particularly true in Vegas. Aim to stay between Monday – Thursday for the best rates.

Next up, make sure you’re not visiting during a convention week. Whether it’s a Comic-Con or a business networking event, conventions push the prices of accommodation sky high, so avoid these weeks like the plague.

Some of the best cheap hotels in Vegas include Flamingo, Bally’s, Excalibur and Choice; they tend to be super cheap with rates less than $70 a night. For a more Vegas feel, head to the Strip for MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood, Mirage or Caesars Palace where you can get rooms for less than $150 a night.

What are you waiting for – go get your passport and book those flights!
