I’m super, super excited that later this year St Albans is going to be hosting its first Literary Festival. I’m even more excited as my good friend and fellow blogger Claire from Being a Mummy is actually in charge of the whole thing! With a very small team she’s put together a programme with some great speakers for book fans of all types. I’ve blocked the days out in my diary already and I’m really looking forward to it.
In the run up to the festival the other thing I’ve loved is some of the team sharing shelfie videos in which they talk you through what’s on their bookcase. As someone who loves books and is incredibly nosey it’s a great way to find out quite a bit about a person without having to go round their house. I love talking about books, so much so that I decided to do my own shelfie.
But then I realised that one video wasn’t going to cover it, unless I turned it into a film length one. It’s fair to saw we have rather a lot of books in this house. So instead I’m going to do a bit of a tour of my house in bookcases.
I’m starting this week with the newest bookcase in the house, but probably my favourite one too.
So what’s on your bookcase? Why not do your own shelfie so I can have a nosey?

Awesome news- what a brilliant local fest that will be. I have just begun reading The Borrowers to Ramona – I am definitely enjoying it more than her!
Penny Carr says
The Borrowers is one that I keep looking out for in charity shops and am yet to find again. I can still clearly see the cover of my edition.
Becky says
Oh I am so going to take part in this too. Did you do a lite degree?
Penny Carr says
Far from it Becky – my degree’s electronic engineering with computer science!
Pinkoddy says
You are a very well read lady aren’t you.

Seriously, I want to live in your house! I can’t get enough books and just seeing only a portion of your collection is a feast for the eyes. Can’t wait to read more!
Liz Burton says
I am insanely jealous of your Blyton collection! I need to get mine back from my mum!

I have to confess that for many, many years I had very little in the way of books except for the kids ones until me and my husband split.I have been buying and reading as many books I can since then.On my house list I have down to get a large bookcase for the living room as the two on the landing are mostly full of cookery and craft books.
Nikki Thomas says
What a fantastic bookcase! I really enjoyed that and I love the idea of collecting vintage children’s books. The Enid Blyton books are amazing and bought back some very happy memories, they are dated but they were such an important part of my childhood, I would love to have the time to read them all again.
