Be prepared for your eyes to be hurt tomorrow – in the nicest possible way of course. Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day is back (Friday 13th December) and this year it's going to be bigger than ever!
The idea is simple – get into the Christmas spirit by wearing your best bit of festive knitware and donate a pound to Save the Children to help support the wonderful work that they do for children around the world.
I had big plans for either buying myself a perfect Christmas jumper that sat perfectly between retro cringeworthy and cool or even making myself something a bit special. Then LMC and I picked up a sickness bug at a kid's party over the weekend and my plans were downgraded slightly to ordering something from Amazon, which then turned out to have been sewn together by someone that doesn't quite understand about straight lines, but still.
It's not too late to join in though – either dig something out from the 1980s or have a go at customising something yourself. Save the Children teamed up with those lovely people at Westfield Stratford City this year to put on a series of Woolly Wonderland events and workshops to help people give their existing jumpers a bit of festive sparkle. Fellow blogger Lizzie from Me and My Shadow went along last week and came up with a rather stunning number. Even if you just pin on a picture of Santa and some tinsle around the neck line please do join in and donate that valuable pound to such a worthwhile cause.
Whilst Christmas Jumper Day originally started in the workplace and schools there's no excuse in these days of social media for those working from home not to join in. Between 1 and 2pm on Christmas Jumper Day there's going to be an #xmasjumperday twitter party for everyone sat at home in their festive knitwear to join in with. In addition, for every blogger who writes a post about Christmas Jumper Day and includes a selfie of themselves in their jumper, Westfield London will be donating an extra £10 to Save the Children. All you need to do is tweet a link to your post to @westfieldlondon What are you waiting for bloggers?
And for all fans of The Killing you MUST watch this. It is quite seriously the funniest thing I have ever watched.
