I have a dream. It's a dream I've had since I was about 21. In this dream I live with my family in an absolutely gorgeous house in the country. A house in which everything is just perfect. Every single thing is in the right place and is absolutely gorgeous. It's a dream. A complete fantasty. Real life isn't really that perfect. Is it? Last week though I finally stepped inside that dream house. It may have been in central London instead of the countryside, but every other detail was spot on.
Inside my dream house it was Christmas Eve. Gifts were wrapped under the tree. The table was set for a beautiful family dinner. A vintage copy of Cluedo lay on the living room floor where the family had left it mid-game. At the edge of the room were a ride on vintage style car and a play house for the younger members of the family. A drinks trolley stood by the doorway ready for someone to mix some festive drinks.
Delicious smells were drifting from the kitchen. Freshly baked mince pies and cake sat on the side. On the hob is a simmering pan of mulled wine and next to it a festive hot gin and tea punch waiting to be poured into glasses.
Upstairs the guest room was beautifully ready with the bed made for visitors. Their suitcase sat on the floor with more gifts spilling out of it. A comfy armchair in the corner for them to sit down and read a book in before coming down for dinner.
In the master bedroom two chairs sat by the fireside and next to them a plate containing a mince pie, glass of brandy and a carrot for any middle of the night festive visitors that might arrive.
On the top floor the children's rooms were ready for excited little ones to finally drift off to sleep and to dream about what the next morning may bring them. Until they are ready for bed the children ca spend the evening in the basement den, all set up with tents full of cushions and cuddly toys for them to lie in whilst watching Christmas films on the big screen.
So, where was this dream house and how was I lucky enough to spend time there?
It was all thanks to The White Company who dressed this extrordinary house in a central London square ready for Christmas as part of their Chritmas in July launch. I was already completely in love with The White Company's range, but this house just took everything to a whole new level. The attention to detail was mind-blowingly beautiful and I really am struggling to find enough adjectives to describe it all adequately. When we visited I took Little Miss C with me and ever since she keeps talking about the amazing house and asking when we can go back there.
Every single thing that I saw in the house was stunning and I would happily accommodate any of them in my own home. From big furniture pieces and bedding, right through to the smaller decorations on the mantlepiece and the candles in the bathroom. I found inspiration for my own home and also ideas for gifts for friends and family too.
The Little White Company range for children was simply stunning. There were both some classically beautiful timeless pieces, and alongside them so really funky modern touches too. All of it was instantly appealing to both adults and children and so so sweet.
So when the day comes that I finally get my dream house (and today's a positive day so I'm saying when rather than if) I know exactly where I'll be going to buy everything to go in it – The White Company.
Disclaimer: Little Miss C and I were gracious guests at The White Company's Christmas in July event, where they fed, watered and entertained us. We also went home with a beautiful goody bag of treats for the whole family.
