It's strange – before Little Miss C came into our lives I hadn't changed a nappy before. Now, 22 months later, I'm a bit of an expert with thousands of nappy changes under my belt. That doesn't mean it gets any easier though and we're just in one of those phases at the moment when LMC doesn't really want her nappy changed, mainly because that stops her from doing something more interesting for a few minutes. Tantrums start as soon as we try and get her anywhere near her changing mat and it's becoming a bit stressful for all concerned.
We've been here before though – that stage when she never wanted to lie down as she'd just learnt to stand up springs to mind – so I'm hopeful that this is just a phase and a bit further down the line this problem will vanish.
What's strange this time round is that it's accompanied by a complete fascination in all matters toilet related. She's asked to start sitting on the potty – although not to actually use it – and talks about "big girl wee-wees" and suddenly all her toys and dolls seem to need to use the potty or toilet or have their nappies changed. I lost a whole pile of pampers one day because she'd been putting them on her dolls and then putting them in the kitchen bin (along with all the other kitchen rubbish) once they were "dirty".
As usual our lovely local toyshop came to the rescue by selling doll sized nappies and I think (and hope!) I've managed to convince her to put these nappies in a separate place once they're "dirty" so that they can be "recycled" through the toy box. The selection of toys that I find wearing these nappies is quite wide – they weren't so successful on a small Schleich zebra but do fit quite well on her VTech Violet, even if the tail did get in the way a bit! Hours have been spent changing animal and doll's nappies, I just wish she was as keen to have her own changed…

Maybe she’ll have mastered the art well enough for LittlerC’s arrival?

Ha ha…she sounds soo similar to Georgia! We have sme reusable nappies which go on the teddies and I do agree that tails get in the way a lot. Never sure whether to leave them out or curl them up and keep them snide the nappy! Georgia hasn’t managed the potty yet but most of her teddies have! She hasn’t wanted to lay down n her changing mat for awbout a year now, but has just started to lie down nicely for us – very strange!
