We managed to squeeze in an extra day out at the end of Mr C's week off work. Hatfield House really is no distance from where we lie, yet for some reason we hardly ever go there. The local BBC news did an article recently on the Henry Moore exhibition that they are currently hosting (Moore at Hatfield) so we decided to pop along and have a look.
The sculptures are spread about in the West Garden and that separation between them does give each one its own space in such a way that they don't feel like they're competing with each other. Each one has its own character and I generally found the scale of the bigger ones felt rather powerful as you stood next to them.
Whilst there we had a bit of a wander round the rest of the grounds and the courtyard area where there is a lovely restaurant (we highly recommend the scones – very yummy) and selection of shops. It looks like a lot of money has been invested there recently and it certainly shows. There's also a new rare breeds farm that has just opened. We didn't have time to go round there too, but I should think that LMC and I will be back to see the animals at some point soon.

I’ve seen posters for this but it looks even better than the posters suggested – going to add this to my list of things to do the next time I have a week off with the girls

Definitely worth a visit, and the gardens are so huge that there’s enough space for the girls to run about a bit without disturbing anyone. Just make sure you also leave time to visit the restaurant in the courtyard area too!
